The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) yesterday said it had started inaugurating more than 1,400 completed projects in the Niger Delta.
The Acting Managing Director of NDDC, Dr. Christy Atako said this in a statement by the Commission’s Head, Corporate Affairs Department, Iditoye Abosede in Port Harcourt.
According to Atako, NDDC has inaugurated 26 projects and inspected 37 others within one month.
“The projects commissioned are eight in Rivers, six in Cross River, six in Edo, three in Abia and three in Ondo State.
“We are not done yet; we have over 1,400 projects to be commissioned; so the whole of next week has been marked out to commission quite a number of these projects,” she said.
Atako called on contractors to be efficient and productive in delivering their services to the people.
She said some on-going projects had been inspected to ensure that the contractors delivered quality projects to the people.
“I have always believed that in NDDC, we have no business sitting down in the office; our business is outside and we are expected to provide development to people.
“We cannot achieve that by sitting in the office; so that is why we are always in the field to see how our projects are fairing,” Atako said.
