Monarch Flays Kattey’s Abduction

Chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Godwin Gininwa, has condemned the kidnap of Archbishop of the Eccelesiastical Province of the Niger Delta and Dean of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Ignatius Kattey, describing it as an evil against God and humanity.
Gininwa wondered what the perpetrators of such act would achieve by abducting God’s own servant in their quest for material wealth, and urged the police to act swiftly to effect his release.
He called on the abductors to release him unconditionally because Most Reverend Ignatius Kattey had spent all his life serving God and humanity, adding that it was callous of such individuals to kidnap a servant of God and second in-command of the Anglican Communion in Nigeria.
According to the Gbenemene Tai, the present deteriorating security situation in the State had become so bad that kidnappers and other criminals could carry out thier operations with impunity. He recalled that only a few weeks ago, another illustrious son of Ogoniland, the Commissioner for Sports, Mr. Fred Igwe escaped assassination.
He appealed to the Police and other security agencies in the state to intensify their search for the release of the Archbishop while maintaining adequate security in the State, and called on all men of goodwill to pray for divine intervention in the matter.
