Man Bites Off Colleague’s Ear ….Bags 12-Months Jail
An Abuja Grade 2 Area Court in Kado, FCT, last Thursday sentenced a car washer, Adeagbo Femi, 22, to 12 months in prison for biting off part of his colleague’s right ear.
The presiding officer, Mr Ahmed Ado, sentenced Femi after he pleaded guilty to the charge of causing grievous hurt.
Ado ordered the convict to pay N20, 000 in compensation to Ngbede Agbo.
He refused to grant the convict the option of paying fine, saying the punishment would serve as a deterrent.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Simeon Ibrahim, told the court that Agbo of Gosa Village, Abuja, reported the case at Utako Police Station on August 22.
Mohammed said Agbo had reported that the convict bit off his right ear without any provocation, during an argument about the water they were fetching to wash a customer’s car.
He said the convict criminally and deliberately bit off the complainant’s ear.
Mohammed alleged that when Femi was arrested, part of the ear was recovered from him.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 247 of the Penal Code.
