A Zamfara State Chief
Magistrate Court last Thursday remanded a 20-year-old farmer, Isiya Usman, of Kwarin Ganuwa, Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara, for raping an 11-year-old girl.
The Police Prosecutor, Mr Daniel Longwal, told the court that, on Aug. 22, one Usman Muhammad, of the same address, reported the case to the Keta police station.
Longwal said that, on Aug. 21, the complainant had reported that his 11-year-old daughter and two of her younger siblings were on their way to fetch fire wood when they met the accused person.
He further said that the accused person pursued them and forcefully took the 11-year-old girl to his guinea corn farm and defiled her.
The prosecutor added that the offence contravened Section 283 of the Penal Code.
The accused pleaded guilty to the offence.
Acting Chief Magistrate Umar Abdul-Nasir ordered for the remand of the accused in prison.
Abdul-Nasir adjourned the case to Sept. 12 for further mention.
