LMC, Clubs Owners Plan For Next Season
While all eyes were on the Super Eagles at the weekend, the League Management Company (LMC) held a plenary meeting with the Club Owners in which they discussed the several sundry issues including the preparations for next season.
At the meeting held in Abuja, the LMC and the Club Owners agreed adopt the model, style and structure of the English Premier League; albeit with required amendments to suit its domestication for the running of the Glo Premier League next season.
The details of the TV rights deal with SuperSport was also discussed and unanimously adopted by the Club Owners, who also agreed to a stick with the standard revenue sharing formula.
The act of hooliganism which has plagued the Premier League this season was condemned in strong terms at the meeting, with the Club Owners urging LMC to mete out stiff sanctions against persons found culpable.
The meeting also condemned mischief makers who try to bring the LMC and the Club Owners into disrepute and agreed to explore all options available within the law to forestall such efforts and protect the credibility and integrity of the Club Owners, LMC, the League and Nigerian Football in general.
Both parties finally commended the proposal by Globacom, the Premier League’s sponsors, to produce Sim-cards and Recharge-cards brands with insignias of clubs competing in the Glo Premier League, as part of efforts to promote and make the league more marketable.
