Frequent Rains: Building Materials Suppliers Count Losses

As the rainy season endures, building materials suppliers in Port Harcourt and its environs are counting their losses so far in the season which they said has not favoured their business.
Some of these building materials suppliers, especially those that supply sharp sand, gravel, chippings and red mud among others have, in an interaction with The Tide, lamented that their businesses have almost come to a halt due to the rains.
In his submission, one of the materials dealers, Moses Igwe, said that between June and now, he can count how many supplies he had undertaken.
Asked if the cause could be traced to low income circulation in the system, Igwe explained that the situation is  what they usually experience at this every time every year, but that this year’s season has come with a difference, which might be aggravated by the happenings in the political arena.
Also speaking to The Tide on the matter, one of the dealers, Mr Justus Amadi, who resides in Choba told The Tide that he used to make money in bulk on this supply business, but that for about three months now he has made only a few sales.
He said: “I had to look for money to open a store for my wife to be selling ladies wears and that is what has been sustaining my family this time.”
The building material dealer, however, expressed hope that the situation will change as soon as the rainy season is over.
