…Flays Materialism In Churches
The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere has criticised some members of the clergy for turning churches into money making ventures.
Speaking in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, Apostle Chinyere regretted that instead of playing the role of non-governmental organisations and humanitarian bodies, churches had become business ventures all over the country.
“Christians now amass wealth. There is so much wickedness in the church”, he said.
He alleged that some clergymen see church money as their personal money, describing it as wickedness, stressing that some pastors prefer to buy jet planes than to use church money to assist under privileged members.
The cleric said that the OPM had distinguished itself as a church that cares for its members and the entire society.
According to him, the church had embarked on projects that have improved the conditions of the society. He listed some of them to include the free restaurant for members of the public, the free hospital in which more than 300 pregnant women have been delivered of their babies free of charge, while the church had opened several business outfits for needy members of the public.
He also said that the church had built a computer centre at Elele Prison while a teacher was employed to train prisoners just as more than 30 houses had been built for the homeless.
Apostle Chinyere said that OPM had concluded arrangements for the commissioning of a world class secondary school that is fitted with state-of-the-art facilities while experts in Phonetics had been employed to teach the children.
On what other pastors think of him, he said that some see him as a role model, while others criticise him, but quickly noted that their criticisms make him stronger.
According to him, they criticise him because they are jealous, but noted that God would continue to give solutions to the challenges of those who worship him at OPM.
