Moments after leading Rivers Angels FC to lift the 2013 Women Federation Cup trophy at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos last Sunday, Coach Edwin Okon declared that the team would continue to bring Laurels to the state and make the people happy.
The Coach, who expressed delight with his girls in the manner they handled the opponents, Nasararwa Amazons, said that they played to instruction and handled the Amazons’ challenge very well.
“I am very delighted with my players, our opponents made things difficult for us, especially, in the first half, but we stuck to our game pland and in the end, it paid off”, said the Coach.
He said that the club set out to win the Federation Cup and league title this season after coming close to doing the double but failed in recent attempts, and is still determined to add this season’s league title to the Federation Cup.
Coach Okon believes that the club’s recent successes, having won the Cup in 2011 and 2012, would not have been possible without the undiluted support of their sponsors, the Rivers State government and the commitment of the players.
He reiterated the willingness of the players to always go the extra mile in efforts to reciprocate government and fans’ gestures.
