Fed Cup: RSG Dangles Carrot For Rivers Angels
The Rivers State Government has moved to motivate the state’s women football club, Rivers Angels FC ahead of the Federation Cup final scheduled for the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos this weekend.
Rivers Angels are billed to lock horns with Nasarawa Amazons for the 2013 title of the federation Cup.
Though the Angels are the defending champions, the club, state government and fans want them to retain the title.
Towards this end, Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Hon Fred Igwe, has reminded the players of the largesse that await them is they beat the Amazons to the title at the weekend.
While addressing the players, Hon Igwe said that Governor Chibuike Amaechi would handsomely reward the team if it triumphs at the weekend
According to him, there’s already a precedence on ground, his Excellency, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi likes hard work and rewards success. But first of all, we must present the trophy to him. We do not expect anything less that returning the trophy home to Port Harcourt.
Meanwhile, Team Manager of the club, Matilda Otuene has promised that the Angels would make Governor Amaechi, Rivers people and their fans proud at the weekend.
She said that the team remains determined to put u[ a good performance and assured on good football and victory by her team.
The team manager, however, noted that their opponents should not be underrated or taken for granted.
“They must be good to get to the final of the Federation Cup, but we are ready to take them on”, she stated.
