Ban-Ogi Community: Court Hears Suit, Nov 12

A State High Court in
Saapenwa, Tai Local Government area of Rivers State will on November 12, 2013 commence hearing on a substantive suit brought by the concerned citizens of the area seeking for an order to restrain the  Paramount Ruler of the community, chief Godfrey Nwakor and the council of his Chiefs from parading themselves as the representative of the community.
The trial judge, Justice Dagogo Jack announced this after hearing from a motion seeking for an interlocutory injunction by the plaintiffs through their counsel.
The Ban-Ogi concerned citizens is praying among other things, an order of the court  restraining Chief Godfrey Nwakor and the council of Chiefs not to present  themselves as leaders and representatives of the community  in the capacity of  Chief and  council of Chiefs pending the determination of the substantive suit before the court.
The plaintiffs are also seeking a declaration of the court to declare that the respondents  are not the legitimate  people to represent  the community both at the local, state and federal levels pending the determination of the substantive suit.
They further prayed the court to make an order directing the local state and  federal governments as well as other agencies doing business in the area to stop  paying any money to the respondents on behalf of the community till the case is decided.
