Abubakar Condoles With Nwodo Over Wife’s Death

Former Head of State, Gen.
Abdulsalami Abubakar, last Sunday paid a condolence visit to the family of Nnai Nwodo, a former Minister of Information in Ukehie, Enugu State.
Nwodo lost his wife, Obiegali, a justice of the Court of Appeal, in London on August 4 and she would be buried on Sept. 27.
“It is very painful that you have lost your wife but remember that death is compulsory to all human beings. “I urged the family to bear the loss with fortitude as we pray for eternal repose of her soul. “The family should be consoled that Obiegali lived a useful life and contributes immensely to the society,” Abubakar said.
He said that he had being a long time friend to Okwey Nwodo, the former governor of Enugu State, adding that he knew the former information minister from his brother.
He said Nnai worked diligently and contributed immensely to the success of his administration., adding
“It is because he did very well during my administration that we have maintained the relationship with the family till today,” he said.
In his remarks, Nwodo, senior brother to Nnai, said that Abubakar had being ‘a very good friend of the family’.
“His presence today in spite of his tight schedules as UN Envoy to some Africa countries, has shown his love and concern for the family,” Nwodo said.
He said the humility and the freewill to handover to a democratic elected government in 1999 had earned Abubakar recognition worldwide.
According to him, Abubakar is one of the most respected heads of state in Africa and the international community.
