The Police last Thursday arraigned three men before a Wuse Magistrate Court for alleged joint act, criminal force, assault and mischief.

The accused are Francis Makogi, 35, Friday Ocheido, 31, and Ebah Limus, 26, all of No. 5 Agadez St., Wuse, Abuja.

The Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Francis Tanko, told the court that one Helen Amah of One-Man Village, in Masaka, Nasarawa State, reported the matter at the Wuse Police Station on August 14.

Tanko said that Amah went to demand her money, amounting to N200,000, from one Emmanuel Ogbodo at No.5 Agadez  St., Wuse in Abuja.

He said that the accused instead, dragged Amah out of the premises, threw her out forcefully and tearing her dress, valued at N30,000 in the process.

The prosecutor said that the accused people were standing trial on a four-count charge, contravening Section 79, 263, 265 and 327 of the Penal Code.

The accused people, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Defence Counsel, Mr Ibrahim Idaye, urged the court to grant his clients bail on liberal terms.

Idaye said that if granted bail, the accused would not jump bail nor hinder the cause of prosecution and investigation into the matter.

He said the alleged offences committed were bailable, pleading that they had children to cater for.

The Magistrate, Mrs Nafisat Ibrahim, granted each of the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with a surety in like sum.

Ibrahim said that the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case to October 10 for hearing.
