The leader of Eleme Legislative Assembly, Mr. Gomba Olaka has described as a ruse the threat by the Felix  Obuah faction of the  Peoples Democratc Party in Rivers State to suspend the Senator representing Rivers South East  district, Senator Magnus Abe and two other lawmakers.

In a statement in Port Harcourt, Wednesday, Olaka, a political Associate of Senator Abe, said it is unfortunate   that  the party rather than seek ways of ensuring  true reconciliation, peace  and unity,  in the party and in the  state, have now decided to  toe the dishonourable path of discord  and mischief.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in River State, Hon. Felix Obuah had in a statement on Wednesday in Port Harcourt threatened  to suspend Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, Hon Andrew Unchendu and Hon Dakuku Peterside for what he described as their “recurring international Malicious Ulterance and actions.

The statement further  warned  that their  failure to refrain from what  it described as proponganda detrimental to the  party, the party leadership in the state will resort to its  disciplinary committee for appropriate action in line with party rules and regulations.

But  Olaka, in the statement  noted that  Senator Magnus Ngei Abe has always followed the path of truth and justice  in the  discharge  of his onerous  responsibilities.

Olaka who was reacting  to the threat contained in the statement by the PDP in Rivers State to suspend Senator  Magnus Abe, Hon Andrew Uchendu, Hon Dakuku Peterside, said that  Senator Abe, as a the leader of PDP in the state and national level has every right to join well  meaning  party members in guiding the party to the path of growth and unity.

According to him Rivers  people know how tirelessly the lawmaker has worked to bring peace and unity to the party and the state.

“It is clear to Rivers people  that the  call for the removal of Mbu Joseph Mbu the Rivers State Commissioner of Police will not only bring peace but reduce crime rate in the State. We  are shacked  to hear that the state PDP is behind Mbu’s  action  to the extent of threatening a serving  Senator with suspension for calling for Mbu’s removal”, he said.

He also said that   those accusing  Senator Abe should also have the courage  to name  those  that  fanned  the crisis that  engulfed the Rivers State House of Assembly.
