Subscribers Task Telecom Firms On Service Delivery

Subscribers in Rivers State have called on network providers to improve on their services in order to enhance the poor network they are experiencing.

A subscriber, Iheanyi Amadi, who spoke with The Tide in Port Harcourt Wednesday, said the network providers in the country are not doing any better in terms of quality of services rendered.

The subscriber pointed out that it is a different ball game in most countries of the world as they enjoy premium telecom services.

Amadi, challenged the telecom operators to live above board, saying that they are unfair to Nigerian subscribers who he said are paying through their nose.

In the same vein, another subscriber, Fyncountry Odum, blamed part of the telecoms’ unfair treatment on some business operators in the country who are only after profit miximisation and not the welfare of the people.

He explained that in most parts of the world, non governmental organisations often lashed out on companies that are not living up to expectation in the area of service delivery, adding that telecom companies are enjoying the collective docility of their Nigerian consumers.

According to him, consumers in some other African countries can go on rampage if the price of any particular product appreciates by “one kobo” whereas Nigerians are mostly reluctant to do so.

He directed the telecom firms, especially MTN and Globacom, to consider the huge amounts they have made from subscribers in Nigeria and improve on their services.

The subscriber wondered how Nigerians will continue on poor network service every year, while calling on the Federal Government to work out modalities and introduce new service providers who are ready to do business in the country.
