‘Stop Issuance Of Foreign Exchange For Rice Importation’
The General Secretary, Shippers Association of Lagos State, Mr Jonathan Nicol, has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stop issuance of?foreign exchange for?importation of rice.
Mr Nicol gave the suggestion?in an interview with newsmen in Lagos.
He said that the?step would encourage local production of rice.
Mr Nicol said that it was prerogative of government to provide food for the citizens and?that?government should encourage local production of rice.
He said that the government should also engender competition among?local producers of rice to attract more production.
