The 2015 governorship campaign posters of the Minister of State for Education, Barrsiter Nyesom Wike has flooded the streets of Port Harcourt confirming speculations that despite his continuous denials, the minister may be seeking to succeed Governor Chibuike Amaechi in 2015 .
But reacting to the emergence of the posters on the streets of Port Harcourt, Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Sir Tony Okocha, said that Nyesom Wike has violated the ban on campaigns for the 2015 elections by circulating his posters for the governorship race.
Okocha also said that the minister and his supporters were behind the campaign posters.
Meanwhile, Rivers people have condemned the circulation of the ministers posters for the 2015 governorship race.
A cross section of the people who spoke to The Tide under condition of anonymity, said that they were not surprised by the manner in which the Minister of State for Education has so far carried on with the crisis in the state, blocking all access to peace.
According to them, the appearance of his posters has confirmed what people have been saying that he is interested in the governorship of the state come 2015.
They also alleged that the situation has confirmed what the minister said recently that the governorship of Rivers State has not been zoned to any section of the state.
According to one of the respondents from Ikwerre, it will be too bad for Ikwerre man to succeed another Ikwerre man.
‘It should go to other ethnic groups, he said and advised Barrister Wike to toe the line of peace in the interest of Rivers State.
Another respondent from one of the riverine local government areas, said that God is now exposing what Wike and his supporters have in mind, vowing that it will not work.
Efforts to reach the Secretary-General of Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI) Mr Nwanosike was not successful as his phone was switched off as at the time of filing this report.
