RATTAWU Urges FG To Repair Bad Roads

The Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU), Lagos State council has called on the Federal Government to urgently repair what it called ‘death traps‘ ?on Nigeria’s highways.

Comrade Godwin Itotowa, Chairman of the council made the call in a statement issued by the union in Lagos.

Comrade Itotowa was reacting to the sudden death of three officers of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) on August 2, in a road mishap at?Osu, Osun.

The Tide recalls that the victims were Mr Adolphus Okonkwo of the Voice of Nigeria, Olatunde Ojenike, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan and Kafayat Odunsi, Nigeria Television Authority (NTA 7) Tejuoso, Lagos.

The unionists died in a fatal accident while returning from Abuja after engaging in an official and national assignment.

The chairman said that the repair of the roads was to prevent incessant and avoidable deaths.

He said the government should repair all the death traps on Nigeria roads,?to forestall such occurrences.

He also enjoined Federal Government to ensure its entire workforce take a life insurance policy..
