Police Investigate Deaths After Cassava Meal
The police in Nsukka, Enugu State, are investigating how three members of a family allegedly died after taking cassava meal.
Spokesman for the police in the state, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, told reporters in Enugu yesterday that Ikenna Ugwuanyi, Nnama Uwuanyi and Chineche Ugwuanyi, died after the meal on July 27.
Amaraizu said the incident occurred at Amokwe Elu Owere Obukpa in Nsukka Local Government Area of the state.
He said that after the meal, the trio took ill and were taken to the University of Nigeria Medical Centre, Nsukka, where they were confirmed dead.
“Their corpses have been buried by their relations but the police are investigating the incident,” he said.
