Panel Beater In Court For Alleged Vandalism, Theft

The police last4e Thursday arraigned one Ola Moshood, 36, in a Grade 2 Area Court, Kado, Abuja, for allegedly vandalising and selling parts of an 18-seater Toyota bus.

He was charged with cheating.

The police prosecutor, Simeon Ibrahim, told the court that one Ernest Okafor of Lugbe Zone 5, Abuja, reported the matter at Utako Police Station on August 18.

He alleged that the accused, a panel beater in Mpape, Magbaya road, FCT, dishonestly vandalised and sold parts of an 18- seater Toyota bus belonging to Okafor.

Ibrahim said the complainant had sometime in December 2012, entrusted the bus in the care of the accused to repair and work on the body.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 322 of the Penal Code.

If convicted, Moshood shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with a fine or with both.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The presiding judge, Mr Ahmed Ado, granted bail to the accused for N100,000 with one reliable and responsible surety who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

Ado adjourned the case to October 22 for further hearing.
