Nutritionist Says Unriped Plantain Prevents Bladder, Kidney Problem
A Nutritionist with Wuse General Hospital, Hajiya Jummai Abdul, says eating unripe plantain could remedy bladder and kidney problems.
Abdul told newsmen in Abuja that?unripe plantain contains potassium an important component of cell and body fluids that helps to control blood pressure.
She also added that unripe plantain contains a high amount of dietary fibre which is helpful for healthy bowels and reduces constipation
She said eating unripe plantain could also ease the discomfort of menstrual period.
According to her, plantain is a reliable source of minerals like iron, phosphorous and magnesium essential for bone strengthening as well as a cardiac-protective agent.
She also said plantain is rich in vitamin C and A which help the body to develop resistance against infections agent and hunt harmful oxygen.
“Unripe plantain has more vitamin A, In addition to being a powerful antioxidant, vitamin A plays a vital role in the visual cycle, maintaining healthy mucus membranes and enhancing skin complexion.
” Plantain also contains foliates which are essential for healthy pregnancy,” Abdul said.
Foliate is a water-soluble B vitamin that is naturally present in some foods and available as a dietary supplement.
