NFA Focuses on Super Eagles’ W/Cup Qualification
The Director of Competitions, Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Sanusi Mohammed says the association is committed to creating a conducive condition for the Super Eagles to win their next world cup qualifying match.
The Eagles will host the Flames of Malawi on September 7, in a decisive Group F World Cup qualifying encounter at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
Mohammed told newsmen that the NFA was not bothered about the antics of the Malawians, but was rather focused at ensuring that the Eagles had all that they needed to succeed.
“As we all know, the Malawians have been talking tough ahead of the encounter, but that is not our focus at the moment as a body.
“All we want at the moment is for our team to go all out and guarantee us a place in the play-off; then we can look ahead from there.
“We are focused on dwelling on how to create conducive playing conditions for our players to thrive in that encounter,” Mohammed said.
He said the NFA was optimistic that the Eagles would overcome the Flames when they meet in Calabar, stressing, “we expect nothing but a victory”.
The director urged Nigerians to pray for the team as they get set for the all important tie in September.
“We’re positive we will get a win, and we’re putting everything in place to guarantee that victory. All we want is for Nigerians to pray for the team,” he said.
The first-leg match between both sides in Blantyre on June 9, 2012 ended in a 1-1 draw.
