Man, 32 In Court Over Forgery, Impersonation
A thirty-two-year old man, Emmanuel Uzuabo Obibi has been arraigned before a Port Harcourt Chief magistrate Court presided over by E.C. Woke for an alleged forgery and impersonation offences.
The accused person, Emmanuel Uzuazo Obibi, 32, is standing trial on a two counts charge of forgery and impersonation before E.C. Woke.
The Police prosecution told the court that the accused person on the 8
th May, 2013 in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State within Port Harcourt Magisterial district did falsely presented himself to be one Dr. Sampson Obibi by signing a letter to the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja and should have been a dead man at that time.
The Police further alleged that the accused person on the same date and place in the afore said magisterial district forged the signature on his letter titled “Relinguishment shares” to the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 108 (2) and 467 (f) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 11 laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.
The accused person however pleaded not guilty on the two count charge brought against him.
In his ruling, the presiding Chief Magistrate granted him bail with the sum of one hundred thousand Naira (100,000) with a surety who must produce two passport photographs to show evidence of means, while the address of the surety must be verified by the prosecutor. The case was later adjourned to the 27
th August, 2013 for hearing.
