Judicial Inquiry: Court Rules On Suit, Friday
A Port Harcourt High Court Presided over by Justice I.A. Iyayi Lamikanra has fixed Friday 16
th August, 2013 to rule on the suit brought before it by Hon Victor Ihunwo challenging the legality and the constitution of members of the State Judicial Commission of Inquiry constituted to took into the crisis that rocked the state legislature on July 19th, 2013.
The trial Judge fixed the ruling after hearing from counsels of both parties in the matter, Hon Victor Ihunwo and the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Worgu Boms.
The lawmaker representing Port Harcourt City Constituency 3, Victor Ihunwo, had filed a suit asking for an order of the court to stop the commission challenging their credibility and the composition of the members which was constituted by the state government to look into the crisis at the State House of Assembly on July 9th an 10th respectively.
Speaking to journalists after the court adjourned, counsel to the lawmaker, Bar Dike Udenna, told journalists that his client approached the court to stop the commission, saying that it was set up by one of the parties involved in the matter.
He averred that his client believed that any report submitted by the commission would lack fairness and Justice, adding that the commission was set up by the state government to indict some targeted persons.
