Jigawa Provides Water To 600 Villages
The Jigawa government
provided potable water to 600 villages in the state in the last six years, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Hanafi Yakubu, has said.
Yakubu, who disclosed this to newsmen recently in Dutse, said that about 100 small towns also benefited from various water schemes by the government.
He said that the government had introduced a Water Supply Health and Hygiene (WASH) policy to enable the people have access to safe, affordable water and sanitation services.
He said that the project was being executed with the support of the European Union (EU).
Yakubu said that the EU had been supporting the state government since 2006 in the provision of water to the people to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
He said that the state was collaborating with the EU to construct 248 blocks of latrine in some primary schools in the state.
