Entries Open For PH Centenary Marathon
The Port Harcourt centenary half marathon has been scheduled to hold on Friday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State at the Sharks FC Stadium.
Consequently, the Rivers State Sports Council has opened entries for the exercise and expects interested sports men and women, including members of the public to register for the marathon at the council’s premises immediately.
According to a council official, Mr Barrisi Wifa, registration for the exercise, which open to all, would close by tomorrow evening.
He explained that the marathon is part of activities marking the celebration of 100 years of Port Harcourt City.
The half marathon will kick off at the Sharks’ Stadium, with the runners going through Moscow Road, William Jumbo, Fores Avenue, UTC Junction, Aba Rod, Waterlines and link Olu Obasanjo Road to Ikwerre Road, Mile One, back to Sharks Stadium through Azikiwe Street and Station Bus Stop.
It is expected that the marathon, apart from exposing Port Harcourt residents to fitness and the benefits of healthy recreation, would create awareness and add colour to the centenary celebrations.
