Delta Moves For Improved Cassava Production

The Delta State government has issued Certificates of Occupancy (Cof Of O) for two localtions to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture  for the cultivation of cassava on a large scale in the state.

Receiving  the documents  recently from the Delta State government in Asaba, the Minister of Agriculture, Dr Akinwumi Adesina said Delta State was the  only  state to have provided land for the crop with additional land for  commercial purposes.

Dr. Akinwumi further announced that 18 large-scale cassava processing plants  each with  72,000 metric tonnes processing capacity were to be established in parts of the country under the  programmed  to ensure an in road  in the global  cassava market.

The minister thanked the governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan for his efforts in agric  development of the State, noting that the allocation  of  land by the state  for cassava projects was to lay foundation for the emergence of the  state as the cassava   basket of the country.
