To Nation’s Ills

A Commissioner in the Imo State Local Government Service Commission, Mr Emeka Okoronkwo, has commended the state government for improving the infrastructure in the state.

Okoronkwo said in Owerri last Wednesday that the state would soon become a major player in the economy of the country going by the rate of development.

According to him, it is ideal for the people to enjoy the dividends of democracy, saying that was what led to the formation of the Okigwe People’s Progressive Movement.

He said the movement was read to galvanise the people of the area to support the good policies of Gov. Rochas Okorocha.

Okoronkwo commended Okorocha for establishing the Youth Must Work programme, saying it will keep young people out of vices associated with idleness.

He solicited the support of the citizenry for the government’s quest to improve infrastructure, saying that without such support, the government would find it difficult to meet the yearnings of the people.

Meanwhile, the General Overseer of Freedom Faith Assembly, Owerri, Prophet Joshua Imoh, has emphasised the need for character reformation among Nigerians as a solution to its problems.

Speaking with newsmen in Owerri last Wednesday, Imoh said such reformation would transform the socio-economic and political challenges facing the country.

He also charged religious adherents occupying political positions to use them in changing the attitude of the people positively and cautioned politicians against making statements capable of causing chaos and disunity in the country.

The man of God noted that politics had eaten deep into the church and that most ministers no longer preached the word but dwelt on earthly things.

He condemned the level of blackmail and hypocrisy among some ordained men, adding that such evil practice would only lead such people to destruction.

Imoh also condemned homosexuality and other immoral activities and prayed that people who indulged in them be exposed.
