CJ Bags Award Of Excellence … Urges Objective Reporting
The out-going Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Iche N. Ndu has been conferred with a prestigious award of excellence by the members of the state judiciary/crime correspondents even as he charged the media to be objective in their reportage of events in the society.
Justice Ndu gave this charge while receiving an award of excellence for impacting positively to the society and for instituting transformational leadership at the state judiciary during a courtesy visit by the state chapters of the judiciary/crime correspondents in his office in Port Harcourt, Monday.
The state Chief Judge lauded members of the fourth estate of the realm for finding him worthy for such award, adding that the award would continue to spur him in life.
Represented by the Chief Registrar, High Court, His Worship Leonard Adoki urged members of the media especially the judiciary/crime correspondents to always cross check their facts before publishing, adding that the activities of court is structured on facts, equality and truth.
He announced that an office space would be allocated to the Association to enable them perform their functions effectively and thanked them for effective coverage of the judiciary during his tenure as the Chief Judge of the state.
Justice Iche Ndu told the gathering that the State Judicial Commission (SJC) has approved the nomination of a female Judge, Justice Daisy W. Okocha as his successor.
Earlier in his address, the chairman of the Group, Deacon Samuel Chinda said they were in his office to congratulate him for his meritious service and his retirement from the state judiciary as the Chief Judge of the state.
The chairman while wishing him well in his future endeavours recounted that the state judiciary has witnessed a lot of leadership transformations, adding that the award bestowed on him was in recognition of leadership performance.
