Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Sir Tony Okocha has criticised critics of Rivers State Governor and Chairman, Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi, who now go around with a personality smear campaign against the state chief executive.
Speaking at a special thanksgiving service held at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Rumuapara District in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state yesterday, Sir Okocha urged the people to disregard such campaigns as they are targeted to smear the image of Governor Amaechi.
“Anything you hear about Governor Amaechi, those negative ones are blatant lies. They are just trying to call a dog a bad name to kill it. They are making trump up charges to perpetuate persecution, but I know that Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi is a papal knight and a believer”, Okocha emphasized.
Sir Okocha also noted that as a Knight of St Christopher, the governor does not belong to any secret cult as Amaechi abhors such activities that are inhuman and detrimental to society.
He, therefore, urged Christians in the state to throw their weight behind the visionary leadership of Governor Amaechi towards ensuring accountability and transparent leadership in the state.
With support of Christians, Okocha believed that the governor would be able to produce positive results and ensure dividends of democracy in the current political dispensation, especially in promoting activities of the church.
The chief of staff stressed, “the only politics I can play is for you Christians to keep supporting the visionary leadership of Governor Amaechi, so that you would support me to help the church, so that it would be like the church in the United Kingdom.”
Earlier, Founder and Minister of Fruitful Home Ministry, Mrs. Ebele Eruchalu had said Christians should always see truth as superior to facts chosen to stand on the word of God.
Mrs. Ebele tasked Christians to work towards the actualization of their destiny by committing themselves to prayer at all times.
