The Chief G.UAke faction of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for a probe of the party Chairman, Mr Felix Obuah and his Media Adviser, Mr Jerry Needam over inflammatory remarks credited to them.
In a statement in Port Harcourt signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr George Ukwuoma-Nwogba, The Ake-led PDP, which called for the arrest and questioning of Obuah and Needam by the police said “ the two men have not hidden their desire for blood, falsehood, deceit and inglorious attainment. They need to be kept in check if Rivers State will not be plunged into abyss”.
The Ake group condemned Obuah and Needam for what it called their unguarded, often baseless statements only meant to heat up the polity. It further called on the police to be pro-active in nipping in the bud whatever plans Obuah and Needam may have to unleash on Rivers State on the back of the current political crisis in Rivers State.
The group expressed disgust that the two men rather than work for peace in Rivers State and the PDP have been busy beating war drums. The Ake PDP challenged Obuah and Needam for proof of their allegations that Governor Chibuike Amaechi has intentions to pervert justice in the case involving Hon. Chidi Lloyd, leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly. In wondering from where Obuah and Needam drew their source of claims that there were plans to exert executive influence on Hon. Justice Lordee, the trial Judge, the Ake-led PDP said that frivolous statements do little to resolve matters.
“These two men should allow the police and judiciary to do what is right in this case without interference. To us the call for the suspension of Distinguished Senator Magnus Abe, Honourable Dakuku Peterside and Andrew Uchendu, men who have done Rivers State proud in the National Assembly and of whom we are proud of, smacks of ingratitude and done in pure evil intent. The utterances of the two men is capable of further plunging the state into deep crisis.
“On the Governor not “sympathising with Hon. Okechukwu Chindah,” the Ake group asserted that the injured lawmaker, who it understands had been discharged from the London Hospital but taken to an unknown location by the Obuah group is doing very well. Obuah andNeedam should stop crying foul and tell Rivers people the truth.
“While we have no doubt that History will reserve golden pages for the three national lawmakers, we wonder whether the same History will not write Obuah and Needam’s pages in ignominy and opprobrium.
“Obuah and his newly recruited attack dog named Jerry Needam, should spare Rivers State whatever anarchy they may be hatching as the present and future generations will not forgive them,” the statement added.
