Traders To Resume Business At New Market

Traders at the New Layout Market in Old Port Harcourt Township have called on relevant authorities to handover the completed new town market to them for effective business operation.
Investigation revealed that the market is set for business activities but is yet to commence full-scale business activities.
One of the traders, Mrs Rose Bobmanuel, said they have not received any detail on when the market will start full operation.
She said the new market building will enable business operators to do their businesses with their goods packed permanently at the shops.
Bobmanuel noted that the state government meant well for the traders but regretted the delay in the reopening of the market.
She expressed hope that the state government will allocate stores to traders based on merit.
The businessman, also called on intending business operators at the new town market to follow due process in the quest to become-numbers of the market.
She called for orderliness by those that will manage the market in order to promote security in the area.
Also, Tom Sobrasua, and Chukwuemeka Uba, told The Tide that they await the reopening of the market in high spirit.
However, they have appealed with the state government and other concerned authorities to introduce a kind of special marshall out fit that will police the market both during and after sales.
