Rivers Plans Scheme For Graduate Engineers
The Rivers State Government says, it is working out a policy to engage 2,000 graduate engineers in the state.
The Commissioner for Empowerment and Employment Generation Dr Ipalibo Harry, who stated this at a pre- RSSDA job fair 2013 press briefing in Port Harcourt, said that the ministry was in collaboration with the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) to create interaction between potentials employees and employers.
Dr Harry said that the fair is in line with government’s desire of ensuring that unemployed Rivers youths were gainfully employed.
The commisioner commended the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) for the initiative, stressing that it was inline with what the ministry was doing to check unemployment in the state.
Also speaking, the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Mr Noble Pepple said that the job fair 2013 which holds next month, would provide opportunity for interaction between companies and potential job seekers.
Mr Pepple also described it as a platform created by RSSDA for screened job seekers to meet with employers.
Pepple, who decried the alarming rate of unemployment across the country, said that the state government was leaving no stone unturned in its effort to address the problem.
He further said that the fair will help the agency and the government to create a data base of unemployed youths in the state and urged more job seekers to register for the fair.
The RSSDA executive Director also said that the current effort was targetted at unemployed graduates and HND holders, while another programme would be worked out for OND and school certificate holders.
