Plateau Earmarks N20m For NYSC Camp

ernment has said that it had earmarked N20 million to buy mattresses and pillow for the new NYSC Orientation camp in the state.
The State Commissioner for Urban Development and Housing, Mr Solomon Maren, announced this after the state executive council meeting in Jos.
He said, “The N20 million approved by the state government is to enable us purchase the mattresses and pillows that the corps members will use when then come.”
The commissioner said that the camp is one of the best in the country and would be very condusive for the corps members, adding that the gesture was one of the human development projects of the current administration, stressing that his ministry would ensure that the camp was ready before the arrival of next batch, and urged the contractor handling the project to ensure its timely completion.
In another development, a two storey building that collapsed in Kaduna last weekend, had claimed several lives, as they were buried under the rubbles.
Eye witness reports that the building, located on Hadeja road, collapsed at about 2.00pm after the occupants returned from the afternoon prayers.
A rescue effort by residents had led to the evacuation of 11 victims from the rubble of which two were rushed to the hospital.
One of the residents of the area told newsmen that the building was over 40 years old, and that the tenants had been told to vacate the place.
