‘PCRC Can’t Take Sides’

My attention has been drawn to a publication in The Tide Newspaper of Monday, July 29, 2013, on Page 3,  with the caption, “PCRC Backs Mbu’s Redeployment”. “The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in the Rivers State has joined millions of Nigerians advocating for the redeployment of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mbu Joseph Mbu.” In a statement in Port Harcourt, yesterday, Chairman, PCRC, Rivers State, Austen Young, said, “the above caption, opening paragraph and paragraph 3 of the report are not a true representation of my keynote address, my view point as a person on the political crises rocking the state. “The PCRC does not take sides where there is crisis. We make peace; we cannot therefore, join people calling for the redeployment of the state Commissioner of Police, especially when we are better informed about happenings in the state. The mix-up is regretted.
