The Nigeria National League (NNL) has set up a five-man investigative committee to look into alleged match-fixing cases in the league.
A communiqué, made available to newsmen at the end of its board meeting held on Tuesday, gave the name of the committee chairman as Emmanuel Ochiagha.
Other members are Paul Bassey, who is a technical committee member of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) and Isaac Danladi, the Chairman of Nasarawa Utd, as well as Charles Ojugbana and Toyin Ibitoye.
According to the communiqué, weeks 29 and 30 matches have been postponed to allow NFA’s Disciplinary Committee to treat outstanding cases and for outstanding matches to be replayed.
It added that the last two matches would be handled by the Premier League referees and match commissioners and that the board would closely monitor the venues.
The communiqué also stated that the league condemned the rising wave of hooliganism and assault on match officials, and advised clubs to control their supporters.
