Groups Disown Ex-RVHA Leader Over Comment
Two prominent socio-political groups in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Vanguard of Opobo Nation (VON) and Focus Group have condemned comments attributed to former member of Rivers State House of Assembly, Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja that those who paid solidarity visit to Governor Chibuike Amaechi were paid agents.
National chairman of Focus Group, Senibo Godswill Jackson Fubara, who spoke to newsmen early in the week said that Gogo-Jaja’s comment lacked substance.
Senibo Jackson Fubara remarked that since Gogo-Jaja is not a member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) he therefore, cannot speak for the party members.
The Opobo-born politician said the people of Opobo and Nkoro visited Governor Amaechi based on their conviction and the transformation they have witnessed under the present administration.
“If the governor does not love Opobo people, he would not have done so many things for us . So we must say thank you for what he has done for us and that is why we went for a solidarity visit”.
He disagreed with claims made by the former legislator that the new Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Road diversion to Nkoro was carried out by the ousted Celestine Omehia administration, noting “I am a member of that community, Omehia did not do any thing for us during his short administration”.
Apart from the roads, Senibo Fubara also lauded Governor Amaechi for siting new health centres and model primary schools, ‘ in Opobo main town, adding that at least we have the sand filling projects at the new layout area, and now, he is coming with fish farm. And like I said, people have never had it so good in Opobo/Nkoro.
On his part, National Secretary of Vanguard of Opobo Nation (VON), Mr Gift Kelefini Ogolo condemned comments attributed to Gogo-Jaja, explaining that such comments lacked value and cannot be substantiated.
Mr Ogolo remarked, ‘ Rt Hon Amaechi is a living testimony to the present development strides in Rivers State”
He observed that only in Opobo/Nkoro, there are a lot of developmental strides covering schools, hospitals, roads and other infrastructure.
According to Ogolo, the reclamation and sand filling is a huge project that is enough to attract accolades from Opobians, including the Ogoni/Andoni Unity Road.
So, it beats my imagination for any Opobo son or daughter to say Amaechi is not doing anything. It is very obvious that such person is not reasoning well. Ninety nine percent of Opobo/Nkoro people are seeing what the governor is doing, and are solidly behind him,” Ogolo emphasized.
