Group Urges Police To Vacate Council Premises
A Port Harcourt-based socio-political organisation, the “Fans and Supporters of Governor Amaechi (FASUGA), has appealed to the Commissioner of Police Rivers State, Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu, to vacate the premises of the Obio/Akpor local government council secretariat in compliance with the court order.
The group which came up with the appeal after its meeting yesterday decried the continued occupation of the council secretariat, advising that it behoves the Police to restore normalcy to the area.
The Chairman of the group, Barr. Ibiene Amachree, regretted that the political crisis in the state is gradually bringing back insecurity to the state due to security breaches occasioned by the refusal of the Police to cooperate with the state government in the wake of the crisis in the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Amachree lamented the rising incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, rape and other vices which the Amaechi administration had fought hard to bring under control in the past six years.
Noting that security of lives and property is the key to sustainable development, Amachree called on Rivers people to rise up in support of Governor Amaechi to consolidate on the achievements so far recorded in the state.
