GPL: Supporters Club Tasks Fans On Sportsmanship
The Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) has urged fans of soccer clubs in the Globacom Premier League (GPL) to imbibe the spirit of friendship either in victory or in loss.
Secretary of the club, Samuel Ikpea, told newsmen in Lagos that club differences should not divide the country.
He stressed that sports were aimed at integrating rather that disuniting people.
“They (Football fans) should go and have that spirit of the supporters club; whether you are winning or losing, go on supporting the team which you are interested in.
“You do not have to lose your head because your team is not winning.
“Sometimes when they lose, let them go and learn from their mistakes. Look where they have it wrong, and make amend.
“And you don’t need to begin to lose your head over your team losing.’’
Ikpea, who noted that the league had been revitalised, urged fans across states to always troop out in their numbers to support clubs of their choice.
The Secretary said that the more support that fans give to players; the better their morale would be boosted to put up encouraging performance during matches.
