The National Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria (NAFN), last Thursday in Abuja, inaugurated various planning committees for the 2013 National Agricultural show.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the foundation, Abdullahi Adamu, urged members of the various committees to take the assignment seriously.
“In the event or circumstances where any sub-committee is lagging behind, then the Central Planning Committee will intervene,’’ Adamu said.
He told members of the various committees that they are expected to attend meetings of the committee they belonged to.
Earlier,  the National Coordinator of the foundation Dr Samuel Negedu, urged members to show some level of responsibility in the discharge of their assignment.
“The action points of the show are in the states. If the states do not come out to participate, then the effort will be in futility,’’ Negedu said.
He observed that Kano and Nasarawa states had been participating regularly in the show and stressed the need for other states to come on board.
The Kano State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr Baraka Sanni, advised the foundation to include commissioners for agriculture in the central planning committee.
According to her, this will give the commissioners a sense of belonging at the show.
Also speaking,  the Delta Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr Raphael Ukubeyinje, said that the show had been a platform to showcase some of the many agricultural resources being produced in the state.
Our correspondent reports that the annual show is organised to showcase Nigeria’s agricultural potential and products as well as to expose farmers to improved and new trends in agriculture.
