The Conference of National Political Parties (CNPP) has condemned the attempt by the minority in the Rivers State House of Assembly to impeach the Speaker and subsequent uproar in the state capital.
The state chairman CNPP, Deacon Princewill Enyi, who condemned the  act in an interview said it was unfortunate and sad to hear that five  lawmakers attempted to take over power and leadership of the House, as he said that the five lawmakers should apologise to Rivers people for their actions
According to him, “I see the Speaker, Rt Hon Otelemaba Amachree as  a legitimate speaker elected by the majority or member for him to be  impeached, it takes a special process.
“The purported impeachment by only five members out of 32 is illegal and cannot be accepted”, he said.
The CNPP chairman advised the lawmakers to reciprocate the mandate given to them by the people, urging them to always show maturity in their action”.
We are ashamed and Rivers people deserve an apology from them. The  five lawmakers exhibited lawlessness and immaturity, he said.
