Chime Affirms Commitment To Relationship With France

Enugu State Governor,
Barrister Sullivan Chime, has affirmed the determination of his administration to sustain the cordial relationship between the state and France.
Governor Chime gave the affirmation in a speech he presented through his deputy, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, when the Consul General of France in Lagos, Mr. Francois Sastourn’e paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Enugu.
He stated  that since the establishment of Alliance Françoise in Enugu that the state had developed interest in French language, adding that there was also much cooperation between the two countries in the areas of Arts and Culture.
According to him, Enugu State has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a France company to develop cement industry in the state because of large limestone deposit in the state.
Governor Chime also indicated the readiness of government to continue to partner with France in the areas of commerce, industry and education for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
Earlier in an address, the Consul General, Mr. Sastourn’e informed the Governor that he was at the Government House after his visit to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka to witness an award given to his country’s National who had taught French in the university for about 40 years.
Mr. Sastourn’e who was accompanied at the visit by the Director, Alliance Françoise, Enugu, Mr. Dominique Fancelli, added that his country had been in partnership with Nigeria in the areas of oil and gas for many years.
He added that he had come to Government House Enugu to identify other areas of cooperation, pointing out that his country is determined to assist the state in her developmental programmes.
