Bishop Warns On Sanctity Of Human Lives

The Bishop of Ifo Diocese in Ogun, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Nathaniel Ogundipe, on Sunday condemned the killing of innocent people by the Boko Haram sect.

Ogundipe  who stated this in?a sermon?at the Trinity Ordination Service at the Cathedral Church of the Good Shepherd, Enugu,  said he had not seen nor heard of any religion that preached or taught the killing of any human being.

“I do not know the religion that preaches what the Boko Haram members are practicing. It is unacceptable and barbaric,’’ he said.

While appreciating the Federal Government’s?efforts, he?urged Christians to speak up and condemn the killing.

The bishop said the Bible makes it clear that nobody has the right to take another person’s life, quoting Deuteronomy chapter 5 verse 17, where God?says: “You shall not kill.’’

Earlier, Anglican Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Rt. Rev.?Emmanuel Chukwuma, condemned the early child marriage approved by?a majority of the?Senate.

He said the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Enugu, totally condemned early child marriage in Nigeria.

According to the bishop, girl-child marriage is one thing the Church will not condone.

“It is not acceptable?and should be rejected,’’ he said.
