AUPCTRE Chairman Assures Members On Welfare
The newly elected chairman of Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE),Rivers State Sports Council Chapter, Comrade Christopher Chioma, has pledged to carry everybody along in his administration.
He said dialogue is the best approach to demand the rights of any given worker, rather than confrontation, saying that it is only when dialogue fails, the union would device another means to achieve its demands.
Comrade Chioma stated this shortly after his chapter executive was officially sworn-in by the acting state chairman of the union, Comrade Okwa P.G Atu at the VIP Hall, Alfred Diete-Spiff Sports Complex, in Port Harcourt weekend.
According to him, “we would ensure that our members are not denied their statutory rights”, adding that his administration would run a transparent government that would be devoid of fraud and rancor.
“I know that, I have the potentials and capability to move this union forward because I am not a green-horn in this business (union)”.
Hence, management and union leaders are partners in progress, “I will ensure that this administration creates more conducive and harmonious working relationship with the management”, Comrade Chioma said.
The chairman used the forum to call on the management of the sports council to design a programme that would accommodate and groom discovered talents so that the state would have abundant talents in all aspects of sporting activities.
“I am pleading with the management to initiate a programme where talents discovered in the rural areas would be groomed, because this will make us have talents”.
“I want to say that training facilities are also very” important to be provided, he stated.
