Accident: Gov Amaechi Escapes Unhurt …Suspicious Car Runs Into Convoy
Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi yesterday miraculously escaped unhurt as a suspicious vehicle ran into his convoy along Rukpokwu-Igwuruta road, on the governor’s way to the International Airport, Omagwa.
According to an eyewitness account, the accident was caused by the intrusion of a Toyota car with a Lagos registration number AA767AQ which ran into the governor’s convoy from the opposite side of the dual carriage way just after the C41 security post on the international Airport road.
According to the source, no life was lost but some occupiers of the governor’s security vehicles were said to have sustained minor injuries.
However, the intruding vehicle and its driver were apprehended and handed over to the police, The Tide learnt.
Reacting to the incident, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Sir Tony Okocha said it was shocking. He however gave thanks to God that no life was lost, although some persons suffered minor injuries.
Okocha confirmed that the governor was shocked by the incident but that did not in any way stop him from embarking on his journey.
He said the governor sympathised with those who sustained injuries.
Asked if he was looking towards any direction for the perpetrators of the incident, Okocha said that as Christians, they have left everything in the hands of God as the political battle in the state is in the hands of God. He pointed out that the just will be vindicated.
