RSSDA Encourages Staff, Others On Fitness
The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) says it will encourage its staff and others to make the best use of its gym complex and other fitness facilities.
The Executive Director of the Agency, Mr Noble Pepple, who disclosed this during the “RSSDA Walk 4 Life” programme last Friday in Port Harcourt said that the event was a contribution of the agency and its partners towards encouraging physical fitness among the people of the state.
“We believe that it is important to have our people physically fit and you know the saying that all works and no play make Jack a dull boy. “We don’t want to have so many dull workers in our office”.
He said that the agency was also collaborating with other agencies to ensure a more inclusive exercise.
Mr Pepple, who described the event as a token, said that it is a reflection of more good things to come from the RSSDA and its partners.
Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Environment, Dr Nyema Weli said that the ministry was happy to associate with the RSSDA in the organisation of the programme.
Dr Weli said that apart from physical fitness, the walk also preaches environmental cleanliness and conservation, a situation that was in line with this years World Environmental Day.
The Administrator, Greater Port Harcourt City, Dame Aleruchi Cookey Gam said that the programme would promote physical fitness and healthy living among residents of Port Harcourt and its environs.
Mrs Cookey Gam said that it has become necessary for people to exercise regularly to ensure that they are physically fit.
The General Manager of Rivers Micro Finance Agency (RIMA), Mr Iyalla said that RIMA decided to support RSSDA because of the importance of the exercise to the wellbeing of the people.
