Rivers Judiciary Gets New Chief Registrar

The Rivers State High Court now has a new Chief Registrar. He is Leonard Koba-moye Adoki.
Mr Adoki replaces, Justice Charles Wali who was promoted to the rank of a judge in the state judiciary last year, and has since assumed his position as a judge in the Ahoada High Court.
Before his new position, His Worship was appointed as the acting Chief Registrar of the High Court, Port Harcourt on 29th of November, 2012, a position he held  till his recent elevation, as the substantive Chief Registrar.
Born on December 16, 1962 at Amalem Town, Central Abua in Abua/Odua Local Government Area of Rivers State, he attended Agbebi Memorial State School, Abua, in 1972, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) at credit level.
He also attended Government Secondary School, Abua between 1973-1978, and the School of Basic Studies, now known as, college of Arts and Science, Port Harcourt between 1979-1981 and obtained his West African School Certificate (WAEC), the interim Joint matriculation Board Examination certificate (IJMB) and the “A” level General Certificate  of  Education (GCE) respectively.
The Chief Registrar attended the University of  Lagos (UNILAG) between 1982 and 1985 and obtained the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Political Science and Administration. Between 1985-1986 he served the Compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Programme in Benue State in 1990, he obtained the Bachelor of Law degree (LL.B)  at the famous Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu, Port Harcourt. His Worship attended the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos and was called to the Nigerian Bar on the 10th of December, 1991.
His worship, Leonard Kobamoye Adoki practised law in the Chambers of C.A.B Akparanta (SAN) from 1991-1992, Chike Ofodile (SAN) 1992-1995, and later established a law firm called Adoki, Adoki  and  Associate Chambers where he practised from 1995-2001.
He served as a Special Legal Assistant in Justic Chukwudifu Akunne Oputa’s Human Rights Violations Investigations Commission between 2000-2001. On the 16th of August, 2001, His worship was appointed a Senior Magistrate Grade 1 in the judiciary and by 2006 he rose to the rank of Chief magistrate.
He was appointed, Chairman, State, Local Government Election Petitions Tribunal from April 2008-December 2008, Deputy Chief Registrar (Admin), High Court from June 2009 till date.
Leonard Kobamoye Adoki (Fsq) also served as the Acting Secretary, State Judicial Service Commission (JSC), from 26th day of October, 2011 to January 24th 2012. He is a member of the Faith Baptist Church and married with children.
In a letter of the confirmation dated 19th June, 2013 addressed to him and signed by the Secretary of the JSC, K.B. Gaabeesq, it is written thus, “I am directed to inform you that the Judicial service commission at its meeting of Tuesday 18th June, 2013 confirmed your apartments as the Chief Registrar of the  High Court of Rivers State with effect from  18th June, 2013.”
“Your salary and allowances are applicable as the Permanent Secretaries in the State.
“May I on behalf of the Honourable Chairman and members of the Judicial  Service Commission congratulate you on this well deserved elevation.”
