Rivers Coach Tasks Bodies On Female Football Dev
Chief coach of Rivers Angels FC of Port Harcourt, Edwin Okon, has said that the development of women football in Nigeria needs the support of well-meaning individuals and corporate bodies in the country.
Okon stated this recently while speaking with sports writers at the Port Harcourt Liberation Stadium.
According to him, the female league should not be left alone in the hands of the government, stressing that it needed the support and motivation from sponsors, saying that, without such gesture, female football would not be developed.
“We need sponsors, corporate bodies and well-meaning individuals to come in and assist the government, without that the road is very far,” he said.
He however, attributed the success of his team in the on-going 2013 Professional Women Football League to hardwork and prayers, adding that the club had come this far because of hardwork.
Okon used the opportunity to re-assure fans of the club and the Rivers people that the team would not relent on its determination to win laurels for the state.
