Police Smash Robbery Gang

A notorious armed robbery suspect and leader of car snatching syndicate identified as Uche Ede alias Kpurata, has been arrested by men of the Enugu State Police Command.

A statement issued in Enugu, Monday, signed by the Enugu State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amaraizu, and made available to newsmen stated that his arrest on June 2, this year led to the arrest of his gang members who gave their names as Ekene Obi, Okechukwu Omeogo of Ukwuoji Emene, Chukwuebuka Okorie and Onuegbu Kennedy both from Onuogba in Emene, near Enugu.

According to him, also arrested is a self confessed cultist, Chukwuebuka  Edeh alias Baba Emenitex,  already identified by some victims, was reported to have been  terrorizing the people residing in the area.

Uche Ede’s arrest, the PPRO went on,  was made possible following the information received from good spirited members of the public concerning his alleged criminal activities with members of  his gang within Emene and its environs.

While maintaining that the suspects are now helping the police in their investigations, Amaraizu further stated that  the state commissioner of police,  Abubakar Adamu Mohammed had applauded the efforts of his men as well as that of the members of the public in checking criminal activities in the state.

He, therefore, charged them to put more efforts in order to sanitise the state, and used the occasion to state that aggressive patrols embarked upon by officers and men of the command have started yielding positive results.
