Police Arraign Estate Agent For Forgery
A 54-year-old estate agent, Bashiru Adedeji, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ibadan Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged forgery of the name, address and signature of one Alhaji Rafiu Ajagb.
The Tide reports that the defendant was arraigned on a two-count charge of forgery and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.
The prosecutor, CPI. Adegbite Olalekan, told the court that the defendant forged the signature, name and address of Ajagbe in a tenancy agreement.
Olalekan said that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of public peace by parading himself as the landlord of a five-bedroom flat situated at Monatan area of Ibadan.
He said that the incident happened on Oct. 22, 2009 at Monatan area of Ibadan.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened section 467 and 249 (D) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Idowu granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
