PHALGA Organises Schools Debate
The Port Harcourt City Council is organising a debate competition for Junior Secondary Schools in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.
A release signed by the Deputy Mayor/ Supervisor for Education, Hon Nancy Stephens-Ijaopo said the event would commence on Thursday 20, 2013 at the City Hall.
According to the Deputy Mayor, 16 schools have already scaled through the screening to participate in the competition.
They are: Government Girls Secondary School, Oromenike, Government Secondary School, Nkpolu Oroworukwo, Government Junior Secondary School, Elekahia, Trans Amadi and Community Secondary School Amadi-Ama.
Others are Community Model Secondary School, Borikiri, Stepping Stone Group of Schools, Iverok Int’l Group of Schools, Graceland Int’l School, Community Secondary School, Abuloma, Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Borikiri, Enitonna High School Borikiri and Model Junior Secondary School, Tombia Street, GRA.
Also to participate are Community Secondary School Oroworukwo, Dietams Int’l Schools, Base Comprehensive College and Ojims College.
Apart from improving listening, communication skills and understanding among youths, the release stated that the competition was aimed at developing the natural talents in young ones so as to be able to make meaningful contributions to societal development. In addition the programme was designed to encourage youngsters have constructive views on issues, as well as engender good command of English Language.
